Robert W. Church, 91, of Janesville passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Huntington Memory Care. Robert was born on September 23, 1922 in Janesville the son of Wayne and Ethel (McComb) Church. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1940. He served in the U. S. Army from December 26, 1942 to January 7, 1946. Bob married Dolly L. Mitchell on August 24, 1946 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Janesville. Bob was a long-time Janesville area dairy farmer and also worked at for Parker Pen Company for many years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served as custodian for several years. He was an avid outdoorsman and a loving husband, father and grandfather who especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolly, four children, Judy (Max) Hehn of Florida, Dale (Dolores) Church of Texas, Steven (Christine) Church of Oklahoma, Kenneth Church of Wisconsin, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one brother, Gene Church of Janesville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Ethel Church as well as two brothers, Donald Church and Evert Wayne Church who died at birth.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church, 2116 Mineral Point Avenue, Janesville with Pastor David Andert officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. Visitation is at the church on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. The Church family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
